Tech News. Vivienne Tam's Laptop Just For Women Launches!
After debuting at last September's New York Fall Fashion Week, Vivienne Tam and Hewlett-Packard are unveiling the first laptop computer designed specifically for women...today!
The HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition, which costs $700, is small, lightweight and colorful. Its red and pink peony injected plastic print exterior matches Tam’s spring clothing, and it will be sold at the Vivienne Tam store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood in the spring. The laptop weighs two pounds, has an almost full-size keyboard (92%). It is available for preorder through HP, and will ship in early December (hey, what a great Christmas gift idea!). A plain version in black, pink or silver will also be available in November.
Other manufacturers are also expected to come out with computers in this size and price range, although they won’t necessarily be aimed at women.
The screen measures 10.2 inches. A Web cam, wireless and a USB/USD card reader are built in. The processor is the 1.6-gigahertz Intel Atom. The hard drive is 60 gigabytes, and it comes with 1 gigabyte of memory. Users can download Tam-designed wallpaper, screen savers and icons in the shape of shoes and purses.
