New York Fashion Week Spring '09: The Ethereal Erin Fetherston.
Summary: Erin Fetherston's Spring '09 Collection, entitled "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" was just that-- a trip through the cosmos where star-gazing was optimal. Fetherston's perennially chic silhouettes were at their all-time best this season, showcasing a selection of mystical Midsummer Night's Dream-like designs. The creativity of the collection reigned in chiffon-- the Pink Chiffon Asymmetrical Tank and Opalescent Sequin Skirt was purely divine (no pun intended), while the Shirred Lime Chiffon Dress already looked like a staple at next year's hottest Hamptons fete. I was particularly intrigued by the White Chiffon Overall paired with the Sky Print Bandeau, proving that Erin Fetherston's genius can literally transform typical farmer's work-wear into delicate ready-to-wear. By far and away, the most outstanding looks of the evening were the Cloud dresses, skirts, and gowns. Always partial to a shift, the White Organza Cloud Shift Dress was a sexy, innovative, and perfectly styled frock that had me, quite literally, on cloud nine. Pun intended.
