There has been a lot of pro-and-con coverage of Katie Holmes' adoption of the 'boyfriend jean,' which has also been seen on the likes of Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon, Kylie Minogue, and Amanda Peet. Pegged, whiskered, washed and whether you like them or not, the one thing everyone can agree on is that they are causing a stir.
But now, we have the definitive word on the trend. Tim Gunn himself deigned to comment to People Magazine that he is not so into the look. "[Katie] ascended from this tomboyish waif look to an incredible sexy sophisticate. We realize how much style she’s capable of. I don’t get it." Tim always sees right to the heart of the issue! Why would Katie dress so schlumpy when she's capable of so much more?
But all in all, we aren't so anti-baggy as our beloved Runway guru. We love that Tim encourages sophistication in everyday life, but we also haven't abandoned the idea that there is a time and a place for the casual and the comfortable.

I'm so with you. Everyone's CRAZY for that weird rolled jean, but it's just... awful! It does NOTHING for her figure and is just -odd-.
I'm glad I'm not alone. And to have the Duke behind us is a definite win!
xoxo.
