Sex and the City Style Look for Less...With Quality

OK, by now we have seen at nauseum how to find the "Sex and the City" look for less. And we know as well as anybody that the current economic situation is making the idea of a giant (think walk-in) closet full of Loubies seem like only something you see in well, the movies. We get that. Trust me. But do you really want to wear an outfit totally comprised of Forever21 and PVC bags? I think not. Especially when so many designer items are on clearance really early this year. At least something good had to come from this hideous economy.

Here are the above two looks for less...a little less (because it pains us to see women look like two cent...you know). If you only spend a total of $100 on your "Carrie" outfit, you will have missed the point completely. Oh and will have fooled nobody.

Look 1: Miranda

Why not just buy the actual Maggy London dress Miranda wore? It's only $148. The belt was vintage, but we found a Fendi one on sale. The shoes in the movie were Gucci and the bag Alexander McQueen.

Fendi Gold F Logo Leather Belt 8C0197 $186. Originally the belt was $300. If it's still out of your range, find a cheaper one pretty much anywhere. Just make sure it's on the thin side or it will ruin the balance.

Look 2: Carrie

By now we all know the dress in the movie was vintage so good luck finding it. However, we think we found an acceptable likeness at Club Monaco.

 

Carrie's shoes were of course Manolo Blahnik. Her clutch was Fendi and her earrings were Fred Leighton. Here is our version.

There was an US Weekly style article a couple weeks ago that had the look for less for Samantha, and featured a green dress. Looking for that dress if anyone has that information or a link.

Hi Bargain Sam,

I didn't see the US Weekly article, but if the dress you are referring to was a halter style with a slit in the front up to there....it was Halston. It's the only green dress I remember Samantha wearing. Hope that helps.
