Summary:
According to Monique Lhuillier, her fall collection had a smoky and loungy flapper feeling with a modern approach. Amen to that! While her designs were not an exact replica but merely inspiration from the roaring 20's they were impeccably styled, super luxe and super sexy. Art Deco influences were evident in mirrored beads, paillettes, feathers and fringe. Even her daywear was super rich with metallic fabrics and fur trim. If we are in  a recession, you wouldn't know it from this show. We are all ladies who lunch at Cipriani's or should be in her outfits. We would wear Lhuillier day and night if we could. What we love most (besides her draping skills and her ability to be over-the-top without garishness) is her consistency and unflappable ability to not dissapoint. In our opinion, she is on the fast track to becoming the next great American designer (in company with Oscar de la Renta), which is a very good thing.
