Chili Pepper Red is out and Blue Iris is in. Pantone, the world–renowned color
authority has named its favorite color for the year and it’s blue. While we saw
bits of this cool shade during the fall (most especially in accessories),
Pantone expects people to be feeling blue a bit more during 2008. Even though it
may not sound as exciting as Chili Pepper Red, the color of 2007, Blue Iris is
expected to be seen in everything from cosmetics to runway fashions to fashions
in the home.
Traditional blue is more often than not found on uniform clad men and women around the world and is so because it is considered to be flattering on every skin tone. While Blue Iris follows it’s name sake (from the flower) and has hints of purple, it should still flatter for those brave enough to forgo their basic blacks and sport a flattering color.
