Times they are a changing. The days of going to the beauty counter to sample products are going the way of 8-track tapes it would seem. The Internet is one of the fastest-growing channels for beauty
shopping, according to The
NPD Group.
Online sales now account for 4% of sales, which is a small but significant portion in a $42 billion industry. We women are busy and don't have the time to hit the mall.
"We find that women are less accepting of buying new brands over the Internet, but they are spending their money on brands they know and trust," said Karen Grant, senior beauty industry analyst for The NPD Group.
The top five Web sites women reported buying from, in an NPD survey, are Beauty.com, Sephora, Avon, Clinique and Bath and Body Works.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the options are continuing to multiply. One of the latest is the discount beauty site banler.com, which buys overstock of premium beauty brands and sells the products for up to 40% off retail. And they carry Kerastase for cheap!!!!!
