It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Mr. Blackwell's 47th Annual Worst –Dressed list just came out. So here is recap of what went wrong (and right) with fashion in 2006. (in no particular order):
The Worst Fashion Trends of '06:
Leggings- In plain black and long, leggings under dresses and tunics worked. The problem became patterned, brightly hued or metallic a la Dance Fever leggings under skirts. If the legging ended mid-calf it was particularly horrid and unflattering.
Crocs – These were the biggest affront to fashion since jellies. Actually, Crocs are worse. It doesn’t matter if they are the most comfortable shoes on earth, they are hideous. Period.
Anorexic Models – Not only did this send a terrible body image message to impressionable teens and young adults, designers and stores began adding 00 to their sizing repertoire.
Formal Shorts – Why did shorts last past summer? Please stick to a skirt or real pair of pants. For confirmation that this trend flopped, check out the clearance racks at any clothing store. Read more
